After brainstorming away on what to do with the Happy Fish Hawaii blog, its been decided that it will be an Adventure blog. There are so many adventures to be had here and we are always looking for new ones, and it just makes sense to write about the things we are alway doing and are good at.
Our first adventure comes from this past weekend, with the weather being less that desirable and the waves being down we bounced ideas off each other. There are some caves that we had heard about and had an idea of their location, after deciding it was impossible to to find them by just talking about where they might be, we decided to loaded up and headed out.
After arriving at our location with a light drizzle going on, we parked and did a bit of scouting around. It took some looking but we eventually stumbled on what we had come for, and couldn't back to the car fast enough to grab our gear! Even better the rain had stopped and the clouds were dissipating.
Jumping in the cool water and swimming into the cave there were all sorts of colors that were accentuated by the reflection of the sun that shown off the water on the cave walls. It was more awesome than we expected! With a little bit of swell it was important to watch as the water surged in and out, if you stopped paying attention you were going to pay for it with your face against a rock. At the back of the cave there is a small beach made up of broken coral bits with little pukas (holes) in the ceiling letting in sunlight which gives the water a cool blue color. We explored around the cave which has different rooms.
Super fun adventure and we are definitely going to head out there again. Out of respect for the locals of this area can't we disclose the location. We didn't see any mermaids but we hear they are sometimes seen here, I guess in our excitement we made to much noise and scared them away.
