This weeks adventure blog commemorates one of our favorite friends that we see almost every time we get in the water here in Hawaii, and that is the Green Sea Turtle, or in Hawaiian, the Honu. These fun guys always enjoy cruising next to you when you are surfing or diving and especially love posing for a picture.
The excitement of seeing a turtle does not get old no matter how many you see. Their calm friendly demeanor is aways inviting and often time you find yourself on a nice underwater stroll with your new ocean friend.
If getting in the water is not your thing, Laniakea beach on the North Shore of Oahu is a great place to see these guys hanging out in the sand, catching some sun. They will for sure be turtles on the beach and there are usually a few DLNR workers to answer any questions you have about them.
If you see these guys in the water, remember they are still a wild animal and should be treated like one. Cruise with them but be sure not to touch them, often times they can have scars from run-ins with other sea creatures.
